Stuck on something?
The questions we get asked most, answered plainly. If yours isn’t here, tell us — the gaps on this page are the ones worth filling next.
Start here
Three routes, depending on what you need.
New to JobCount
How to Use walks through the first setup — markets, a price list, and your first week of jobs.
Running a shop
Work orders, bookings, customers and mechanic pay all live under the shop you pick from the top bar.
Something is wrong
Email [email protected] with what you did and what happened. Include the week or work order.
Account & access
I can’t log in
Use the “forgot password” link on the sign-in page — it sends a reset link to the email on your account. The link is single-use and expires, so request a fresh one rather than reusing an old email.
If the reset email never arrives, check spam first, then confirm you’re using the address your manager invited. If you never receive it, email [email protected].
Why am I being asked to verify my email?
Some parts of the app are gated behind a verified address, because they send things on your behalf or expose customer data. Verifying once unlocks them for good. If the verification email hasn’t arrived, request another from the prompt rather than re-registering — a second account will not inherit your work.
My manager invited me — do I make my own account?
Use the invite link they sent you. Registering separately creates an account that isn’t connected to their business, and your jobs won’t appear on their side.
Markets, jobs and pay
My earnings are showing as zero
Almost always the price list. JobCount prices a job from the codes on it, and a new market starts with every price at 0 — so jobs log correctly and total nothing.
Open the market, go to Prices, and set the rates you are actually paid. Existing jobs re-price against the updated list.
A job is on the wrong day or week
Jobs belong to the week whose date range contains them, so a job dated outside every week you’ve created has nowhere to land. Check the week’s start and end dates match your real pay cycle, and edit the job’s date if it was entered wrong.
Can I change a price after jobs have been logged?
Yes — but understand what moves. Changing a rate re-prices the jobs that use that code, which is usually the point when a rate was entered wrong. It also changes totals on weeks you may already have been paid for, so check which weeks are affected before you save.
What does a pay period actually include?
A pay period covers the jobs and hours falling inside its dates. Once a period is marked paid it is treated as settled and stops recalculating — that is deliberate, so a later edit somewhere else cannot quietly rewrite a cheque that has already been issued.
Running a repair shop
Where do work orders live?
Under the shop you select in the top bar. Each shop keeps its own work orders, customers, mechanics, bookings and calendar — switching shops switches all of it at once, which is why something can look “missing” when you are simply in the other shop.
A customer appears twice
Usually two different phone numbers or a different spelling of the email. Customers are matched on the last ten digits of the phone and on the email, so a mobile typed one time and a landline the next creates a second record.
Merge them from the customer page rather than deleting one — deleting takes their history and any linked work orders with it.
Why can’t I text a customer?
Because they haven’t opted in, or they have replied STOP. Consent is recorded per customer with a timestamp and the exact wording they agreed to, and the app will not send without it. That is a legal requirement, not a setting to switch off.
A customer can opt in through a booking form or by texting START. Calling them is always available.
How does online booking reach my calendar?
Booking forms only ever offer times the shop is actually open — they read your opening hours from shop settings, so change the hours and the picker follows. A request for a day you’re closed is kept as a lead with a note, but no appointment is placed on the calendar.
